Regional One Health Foundation hosted the ONE Night gala Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the Memphis Cook Convention Center.
This year’s ONE Night gala, organized by co-chairs Suzana Lightman and Jennifer Hobson, was a successful evening of fun and philanthropy.
The gala, which is the foundation’s largest annual fundraiser, welcomed approximately 900 guests to a sold out evening of fun and philanthropy.
Along with enjoying a gourmet dinner and unforgettable performances by music legends Chaka Kahn and Billy Ocean, the crowd embraced the opportunity to support the lifesaving work that takes place every day at Regional One Health.
Reginald Coopwood, MD, president and CEO of Regional One Health, offered guests insight into the world-class compassionate care the health system provides and how it has impacted patients from across the Mid-South.
Around 900 generous donors gathered to support the lifesaving work of Regional One Health.
“The impact of Regional One Health may start inside the hospital, but it spills out into the community. We are here to help make life better, and we do make life better, for our city, our region and for every patient we see,” shared Dr. Coopwood.
Dr. Coopwood shared remarkable statistics that highlight the vital role Regional One Health plays in the community as well as the impact of Regional One Health felt in waves across the region.
“It’s the impact of training almost 10,000 physicians in a decade and more than half of the doctors in Tennessee; it’s the impact of an economic engine that provides more than 3,000 jobs and a billion dollars to our local economy; it’s the impact of housing highly specialized services that attract patients from a six-state region.
“That’s what we have at Regional One Health. That’s who we are,” said Dr. Coopwood. “We’re changing health care. And I’m here to tell you this is the toughest and most impactful work we’ll do in our lives.”
“Queen of Funk” Chaka Kahn had guests on their feet with hits like “Tell Me Something Good.”
Dr. Coopwood also shared powerful personal experiences from patients and their families who are grateful for the lifesaving care they received at Regional One Health.
ONE Night celebrated patients and families – many of whom were in attendance at the gala – who found themselves in dire situations and came out well on the other side thanks to the expert treatment they received.
Along with hearing those powerful testimonials, guests hit the dance floor to groove to the energetic sounds of two of R&B’s biggest stars.
Kahn, known as the Queen of Funk, kept the crowd moving with hits like I’m Every Woman and Tell Me Something Good. Ocean had attendees on their feet with classics including Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car and Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run).
Billy Ocean closed out the evening with classics like “Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car.”
ONE Night provides funds for Regional One Health to enhance patient care for this community.
The foundation supports the health system by purchasing state-of-the-art medical equipment, providing advanced training to medical professionals and initiating programs to combat community health issues.
ONE Night was hosted by Regional One Health Foundation and this year’s co-chairs Jennifer Hobson and Suzana Lightman.
This year’s signature sponsors include Arney Scheidt Family Foundation, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, FedEx and Provident. Entertainment sponsors are SunTrust and Southeastern Asset Management.
