I JUST FELL IN LOVE WITH THE VISION FOR WHAT REGIONAL ONE HEALTH WILL BECOME, AND I WANTED TO BE A PART OF HELPING MAKE THE VISION A REALITY.

Susan Cooper, chief integration officer and senior vice president of ambulatory services for Regional One Health, doesn’t think of people as patients; she thinks of patients as people. This belief has served as the foundation for her remarkable career in health care.

Susan was the first nurse to serve as the Commissioner of Health for the state of Tennessee and one of the few nurses to serve in the role nationally. She’s spearheaded powerful initiatives to foster prevention for people at risk for diabetes and obesity. She’s the former Assistant Dean for Practice and Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, where she received her BSN and MSN. She’s also a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing.

Susan originally came to Memphis to serve as an ambulatory strategy consultant to the Regional Medical Center. After a year, she knew she wanted to stay, primarily because of the vision.

In her role, Susan has been instrumental in bringing to life new and innovative delivery models that are focused on engaging the “people” she’s so passionate about serving.
