Regional One Health recently hosted a group of visiting health professionals from hospitals across the country as part of a Vermont Oxford Network (VON) meeting in Memphis. Regional Medical Center’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is an active member of VON, taking part in several collaborative research projects with other hospitals to improve patient care.
During the two-day meeting, the first of the group to be held in Tennessee, participants explored best practices for patient care. While at Regional Medical Center, the group toured the NICU, learned about support services available for families; and learned how the NICU team collaborates, communicates, and coordinates their work to care for patients.
Formed in 1988, VON is voluntary collaboration of health care professionals working together as an interdisciplinary community to improve the quality and safety of medical care for newborn infants and their families through research, education and quality improvement projects.
