Christian Jan Fuchs, MD, is a physician at Regional One Health and an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Dr. Fuchs received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, completed his internal medicine residency at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh and his infectious diseases fellowship at University of Alabama at Birmingham.
“My favorite part of being a physician is the combination of being able to help people while being sure that I will see something different every day,” Dr. Fuchs said. “My job is exciting, and I feel that I have helped people at the end of the day. What could be better?”
Dr. Fuchs works with his patients for them to learn how to manage and maintain good health. “My favorite philosophy is that for most people, health is a set of small steps,” Dr. Fuchs shared. “Most people know some of what they need to do in order to be healthy, they just aren’t quite sure how to do it.”
When meeting patients for the first time, Dr. Fuchs makes it his goal to build a trust with them. “My goal when first meeting a patient is not to change their entire life in one visit,” Dr. Fuchs said. “But instead try to build a trust with them so that we can try to make small changes for better health over time.”
