Marquita Nelson, MD, MS is a dual board-certified hematologist/oncologist at Regional One Health. She specializes in providing care that improves quality of life for patients living with sickle cell disease, particularly older adults.

Dr. Nelson earned her medical degree and completed her internal medicine residency at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. She completed a fellowship in hematology/oncology at University of Chicago Department of Medicine and also holds a Master’s in Public Health Sciences for Health Professionals from the University of Chicago.

She is a member of the American Society of Hematology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Sickle Cell Adult Provider Network, Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research Society, and National Medical Association.

She has presented her research on sickle cell disease and other topics to the Sickle Cell Adult Provider Network, American Society of Hematology, Sickle Cell Disease Association of American and other professional organizations.

Dr. Nelson is an assistant professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and Medical Director of Methodist University Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center.
