Saskya Byerly, MD is a board certified general and critical care surgeon at Regional One Health. Dr. Byerly earned her medical degree from Keck School of Medicine at University of Southern California, then completed her residency in general surgery at the University of Southern California.

She returned to California to complete a fellowship in trauma research at Los Angeles County Medical Center/University of Southern California Division of Trauma and Critical Care. She did a second fellowship in surgical critical care and trauma at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.

Dr. Byerly earned numerous honors during her academic career, including Outstanding Scholar Award and Most Outstanding Chief Resident Medical Student Educator in Surgery at USC.

Her research appears in numerous publications, including the World Journal of Surgery, Journal of Trauma & Acute Care and The American Surgeon. She has delivered in academic lectures on a wide variety of topics and was an invited presenter at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

Dr. Byerly is a member of professional organizations including Alpha Omega Alpha, American College of Surgeons, Society of Critical Care Medicine, Association for Academic Surgery and the American Medical Association.

Outside of work, her interests include Olympic weightlifting, equitation (horsemanship), water polo, skiing, duplicate bridge and post-apocalyptic fiction.
