Sunbal Ashraf, MD is a board-certified psychiatrist at Regional One Health, where she sees patients in the Adult Specialty Care Clinic. She earned her medical degree at Medical University of the Americas in Nevis and St. Kitts, West Indies.

Dr. Ashraf completed a psychoanalytic psychotherapy fellowship at Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute in Ann Arbor and did her postgraduate training at Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State University.  Her academic presentations include “The role of trauma is somatization of pain and its cultural implications” and “A call to arms: psychiatry’s role in managing at risk populations during a global pandemic.” She has also studied lithium monitoring in veterans.

Along with seeing patients at Regional One Health, Dr. Ashraf serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

Outside of work, Dr. Ashraf enjoys cooking, traveling, gardening, art, hiking, yoga, live music and watching NBA games.
