Wendy Likes, PhD, DNSc, APRN-BC, FAANP is a family nurse practitioner at Regional One Health and Dean of College of Nursing at University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Wendy received her PhD and Doctorate of Nursing Science degrees in nursing from University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

“I became a nurse practitioner because I enjoy making a difference,” Wendy shared. “It is a very satisfying experience to make a difference in the lives of others.” Wendy says one cannot judge others for their choices or because one does not agree with something. “As healthcare providers, we are obligated to put our opinions aside and treat others with kindness and compassion.”

Wendy is the Dean in the College of Nursing at UTHSC when she is not taking care of or attending to patients. “I enjoy shaping the careers of others to take a path of leadership and advocacy for our patients and communities,” Wendy said. With two doctoral degrees, Wendy exemplifies her message of the importance of life-long learning in the medical field. “It is critical for healthcare providers need to embrace change and transition as our field, technology, and knowledge is in continuous evolution.”
